Kadai Charcoal Starter

The Charcoal Starter is a simple quick and effective way to bring charcoal up to temperature without the need for lighter fluids. Just fill the starter almost to the top with briquettes or lump wood charcoal. Place firelighters or scrunched up newspaper in the center of your Kadai fire bowl and light, then carefully position the starter over the top of the flames. After 10 minutes a red glow should be observed coming from the bottom of the starter but the charcoal at the top should still be black and the charcoal starter handles cool enough to touch. Using a heat proof glove, tip the charcoal directly into your Kadai and put the Charcoal Starter aside to cool. Using your tongs spread the hot charcoal out, place your grill in the Kadai and you are ready to cook.
