Cast Iron Care & Maintenance Tutorials

Caring for Cast Iron Cookware Daily

Seasoned cast iron is the "grandfather" of modern non-stick cookware. Proper care ensures it lasts a lifetime.

Seasoning cast iron naturally creates a non-stick surface. Follow these key steps:

  • Rinse with hot water while the pan is still warm. Scrape if necessary.
  • Never use soap or scouring pads, as they damage seasoning.
  • Avoid storing food in the pan—acids can degrade seasoning.
  • Store with lids off to prevent moisture buildup.
  • Rusty pans should be re-seasoned (see instructions below).
