Before First Use

Your handcrafted steel cookware accessory is supplied with a protective, food-safe coating to prevent corrosion during transport. Before cooking, it should be seasoned using the following process:

1. Heat the skillet to a medium temperature to soften the protective coating.
2. Wash thoroughly in warm, soapy water.
3. Dry completely.
4. Apply a thin, even coat of cooking oil.
5. Heat the skillet again until hot. The oil may smoke slightly—this is a normal part of the seasoning process.
6. Repeat the oiling and heating process several times until a durable, even black patina develops.

Regular seasoning will help maintain the finish and improve the skillet's natural non-stick properties. The more the skillet is used, the better the cooking surface becomes.

Do not clean in a dishwasher, as this will remove the seasoned finish.
